Pro beach volleyball visits the Bradley Center

IF YOU YEARN for a day at the beach, the Bradley Center is the place to be Jan. 17 for the first visit of the AVP Crocs Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.

More than 200 tons of sand will be on the floor of the Bradley Center at 1001 N. Fourth St. when the action begins at 7 p.m. Current athletes on the AVP Crocs Tour include Kerri Walsh, Misty May-Treanor, Elaine Youngs, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, Phil Dalhauser, Todd Rogers and Stein Metzger.

Milwaukee will be the fourth stop in the new national tour designed to create a “winter beach party” at venues in the Midwest and Northeast. Two-player teams will compete in a round robin play format during the evening.

After visiting Milwaukee, the tour moves on to Madison (Alliant Energy Center) and LaCrosse (LaCrosse Center). Tickets are available through www.avp.com and www.ticketmaster.com

Bucks play seven at home

THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS of the NBA have been hot and cold early in the season as the team tries new lineups and works in new players like 6-foot-11 inch Yi Jianlin of China.

The Bucks play home games in the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St. Tickets are available at the Bradley Center Box office or through www.nba.com/bucks.

College Basketball

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S basketball teams at Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) are always competitive in their conferences and often qualify for post-season play. This year’s Marquette Golden Eagles men’s team is nationally ranked, playing in the tough Big East conference.

Marquette men call the Bradley Center home, while UWM men play at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Marquette women play at the Al McGuire Center on campus, and UWM women play at the Klotsche Center on their campus.
