feature article - february 2009 New musical fills Rep’s Stackner with happy barks BROADWAY had Cats, but right now only Milwaukee has DOGPARK: The Musical – an all-new canine comedy presented by the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in the laid-back environment of the Rep’s Stackner Cabaret in the Milwaukee Theater Center, 108. E. Wells St.
Through March 1, lovers of musical theater and dogs will have the opportunity to follow Daisy, Champ, Bogie and Itchy through their adventures at the hippest, hottest place in town: the dog park, where every dog has his day and love conquers all. “Who needs Cats?” asks Jackie Loohauis-Bennett of the Journal Sentinel and JSOnline. “At long last, some playwrights bark up the right tree.” Watch as these canines have their day in their beloved dog park. Does Daisy have what it takes to be a champion show dog like Champ? Can Bogie escape the perils of going collarless? Will Champ conquer love and also the dreaded cone? Featuring such songs as the “Two Dog Trot,” “Deep Dog Doo Wop,” “Dogs in Heat” and “That’s Mine, Don’t Touch It,” DOGPARK: The Musical leaves you wanting to capture your inner canine and get down with the dogs. There is a separate lounge area at the Stackner where theatergoers can relax before the production. Once seated at your table, servers take and serve drink orders, then it’s time to enjoy the show. Tickets to DOGPARK: The Musical can be purchased online 24/7 at milwaukeerep.com or at the Rep Ticket Office, 414-224-9490. |
