April’s Art in Bloom exhibit focuses on floral design at Milwaukee Art Museum

ART IN BLOOM, a special weekend exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum held April 10-13, will showcase the talents of more than 30 floral designers who will interpret masterworks from the museum’s collection.

Members of the Milwaukee Art Museum Garden Club and other regional garden clubs as well as professional floral designers will offer creative interpretations of artists' original visions for the exhibition.

Visitors can take part in floral workshops and presentations on gardening, floral arranging, and environmentally friendly practices such as rain gardens and gardening with native wild flowers. A marketplace, complete with informational displays, will be open to the public throughout the weekend.

Art In Bloom will kick off on Thursday with a chance to cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award. Art In Bloom continues through the weekend with mother-daughter teas, lectures, workshops, docent-guided tours, book signings, and a chance to dine at the Café Calatrava Garden Room.

Presenting lectures and demonstrations and participating in book signings will be Ron Morgan—one of the most sought after floral designers in the United States; Tracy DiSabato-Aust, aka "the Queen of Deadheading,” and the 2004 recipient of the Perennial Plant Association’s Garden Media Award; and Elvin McDonald, who is the international editor of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

The presenting sponsor of Art In Bloom is the Wisconsin Energy Corporation with additional support by the Milwaukee Art Museum Garden Club.

Tickets for the Art In Bloom exhibition, which include admission to the Collection galleries, are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors; admission is free for Milwaukee Art Museum Members and children 12 and under. Ticket prices vary for lectures, demonstrations, docent-guided tours, luncheons, and Sunday brunch. Details and ticket information are available at 414-224-3200 or www.mam.org.

The museum is located at 700 N. Art Museum Dr. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Sunday, open until 8 p.m. on Thursday.
