feature article - march 2008 Cedar Creek Winery holds 18th annual open houseCEDAR CREEK WINERY, located in the historic 1864 Cedar Creek Settlement, hosts a gala 18th Annual Open House from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16. Visitors can barrel-taste 2007 vintages with Winemaker Philippe Coquard and sample many gold and silver award-winning wines. The list includes Vidal, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet and Waterfall Riesling. Cedar Creek Winery will celebrate the winery’s estate grown and bottled wines: Old Mill Red, Hillside Red and Hillside Blossoms Blush. This wine comes from vines grown in the St. Pepin and LaCrosse vineyards overlooking the Wisconsin River. The open house also features live entertainment by the nationally acclaimed and region ally known smooth jazz group, The Gary Davis Quartet. Cooking with wine demos and samplings will feature Chef Lisa Taft from The Anvil Pub and Grille, held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Artisan Charity Auction is a live voice auction on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Cedar Creek Settlement merchants and other Cedarburg businesses have donated dozens of wonderful items, including jewelry, wine, framed prints, pottery, gift certificates and more. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics. Cedar Creek Settlement is located on the corner of Washington and Bridge in Cedarburg, just 20 minutes north of Milwaukee.
