THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS overcame injuries to key starters in February, but need to continue to perform well this month to win a berth in the NBA playoffs. March 3 vs. New Jersey Nets, 7p.m. Milwaukee Iron, new indoor football team, AT A TIME when the basketball season is winding down and baseball fans are ready for the season to start, a new indoor football team is set to take the field at the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St. Developed by a Waukesha ownership group that formerly operated the Milwaukee Mustangs of the Arena Football League (AFL), The Milwaukee Iron will play its first home exhibition game in the Arena Football League2 (AF2) at 7 p.m. March 12 against the New Zealand Overstayers. The first regular season home game will be at 7 p.m. March 27 against the Iowa Barnstormers. The AF2 is the developmental league of the AFL, the major league of indoor football. The Milwaukee Bonecrushers, which played its first season in the Continental Indoor Football League here last year, is scheduled to open its second season March 28 at the U.S. Cellular Arena just north of the Bradley Center. Milwaukee Wave Soccer THE MILWAUKEE WAVE, always a leader in professional indoor soccer, competes this year in a new indoor soccer league, the Xtreme Soccer League. March 1 vs. Houston Aeros, 7 p.m. Collegiate Basketball Marquette University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams each have one remaining regular season home game before beginning Big East tournament play. The Golden Eagles men’s team plays Syracuse at 1 p.m. March 7 at the Bradley Center, while the women end their regular season at 8 p.m. March 2 against Louisville at the Al McGuire Center on campus. |
