Sixty-five venues take part in Gallery Night & Day
PRESENTED BY the Historic Third Ward and the East Town Associations, Milwaukee’s 17-year-old Gallery Night & Day has grown into the premier seasonal art event in Southeastern Wisconsin.
The April 15-16 event gives art lovers the opportunity to browse and socialize in 65 venues throughout the downtown area. Many galleries and retailers plan “meet the artist” events and exhibition openings.
Often beginning at the Milwaukee Art Museum, art lovers can take the free Friday Gallery Night Xpress, a 20-passenger bus that makes a continuous loop from 6-9 p.m. with stops every 15 minutes. Free parking is available in Historic Third Ward parking structures at 212 N. Milwaukee St. and 225 E. Chicago St.
The April event highlights “Tapestries,” an exhibit featuring two sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at the new Milwaukee Gay Arts Center, 703 S. 2nd St. in the Walker’s Point area. The quilt will be on display from 5-9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
