Brewers open season April 3 against Pittsburgh
THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS, who surprised most observers by finishing third in the National League’s Central Division last year, open the 2006 season with hopes of moving up.
Playing at Miller Park, where the retractable dome ensures games will be played regardless of the weather, the Brewers open the home season against a division rival, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bucks eye NBA playoff berth
THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS, positioned to make the NBA playoffs, play five critical home games this month. Success will lead to playoff games beginning at the end of April.
Coach Terry Stotts, who formerly served as an assistant coach in Milwaukee, directs the team that includes is led by high-scoring Michael Red, playmaker T.J. Ford and veterans like Joe Smith. Adding depth this season have b een top draft pick Andrew Bogut and NBA veterans Bobby Simmons and Jamaal Magloire.
In the final regular-season home game, the Bucks play last year’s NBA champion, the Detroit Pistons, a possible early-round playoff opponent.

NCAA HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP
THE "FROZEN FOUR," the NCAA's national hockey championship, will hit the ice at the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St., April 6 & 8. This year's semifinals pit Boston College against North Dakota at 3 p.m. April 6, followed by Wisconsin against Maine at 8 p.m. The semifinal winners will play for the championship at 7 p.m. April 8. Tickets are tough to find for this event, but are available at Ticket King in downtown Milwaukee (414-273-6007 or 1-800-334-5434).

THE MILWAUKEE WAVE, defending champion in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), are again near the top of the standings this season. The Wave plays all of its home games at the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave.
