Lottery planned for first high-speed ferry crossing
THE NEW high-speed ferry scheduled to begin operations next month between Muskegon, Mich., and Milwaukee has generated so much enthusiasm that a lottery will be conducted for tickets on the inaugural trip.
Developers of The Lake Express, which will cut the time required to cross Lake Michigan to 2 1/2 hours, plan to randomly select the names of individuals who will have the first opportunity to buy a ticket for the planned first Lake Michigan crossing on June 1.
Details of the drawing, when available, can be obtained online at www.lake-express.com. The Lake Express ferry will hold 46 cars on each passage across the lake and will be able to carry 250 passengers. For passengers traveling without vehicles, car rental facilities will be available at both terminals, along with ground transportation.
