16 home games on tap for Brewers in May

THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS, with a new look that extends from the field to the owner’s box, will play 16 home games this month at Miller Park. Large crowds are assured at a three-game series with the neighboring Chicago Cubs.

Miller Park, just west of the downtown area, is a retractable dome that allows games to be played even in the unpredictable days of early summer. Tickets may be purchased through www.milwaukeebrewers.com or at the box office.

PROFESSIONAL SOCCER

THE MILWAUKEE WAVE of the Major Indoor Soccer League is a contender for the championship nearly every year and 2005 is no different. After finishing in first place during the season, the Wave defeated St. Louis in the championship semi-finals and will play the first of a two-game championship series at 8 p.m. May 14 in the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. MOTOR SPORTS

SOUTHEASTERN Wisconsin has two major tracks – the Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis and Road America in Elkhart Lake north of Milwaukee.

This month sports cars and road racing take center stage. At the Milwaukee Mile May 14 & 15, the Great Lakes Sport Car Club and the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs will present The Great Lakes Grand Prix, using the historic speedway’s infield road course. More than 370 cars and 1,700 amateur participants are expected for the two days of racing. For more information, call (414) 298-2068 or visit www.mcscc.org.

Road America will hosts the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s Australian/U.S. Healey Challenge May 13-15. It will be the first stop of the Australians on a tour of several U.S. Road tracks.
