U.S. Bank Championship brings PGA stars here July 19-25

THE U.S. BANK CHAMPIONSHIP, formerly known as the Greater Milwaukee Open, will bring the nation’s best professional golfers to Brown Deer Park Golf Course July 19-25. Competing in the nationally televised PGA event will be winners of six of the last 10 Milwaukee tournaments, including Loren Roberts, Scott Hoch and Jeff Sluman.

First played in 1968, the Milwaukee PGA event has been at Brown Deer Park Course since 1994. One of only a few PGA events played on a public course, the tournament has the distinction of hosting Tiger Woods in his first tournament as a professional.

Scheduled events at Brown Deer, 7835 N. Green Bay Rd., include:
July 19: PGA tour practice rounds and Pro-Am at 11 a.m.
July 20: Youth Clinic 2 p.m. Celebrity Shoot-out 3 p.m.
July 21: Pro-Am, 7 a.m. - noon.
July 22: First Round of US Bank Championship, 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
July 23: Second Round of Championship, 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
July 24: Third Round of Championship, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
July 25: Final Round of Championship, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Also $50,000 Putting Challenge.

Brewers face Cubs twice this month

THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS, the surprise team in the National League thus far in the baseball season, host two American League squads this month during a lengthy homestand.
