Bond, Gregory appear at NAACP convention

MORE THAN 10,000 delegates to the annual convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) are expected in Milwaukee July 9-14 for the historic organization’s national convention.

Although most sessions at the Midwest Airlines Center are for delegates, several events and programs are open to the public:

  • The convention’s exhibit and retail expo is open daily, beginning at 2 p.m. July 9.  Hours of the expo are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day, closing from noon until 2 p.m. for lunch.

  • The keynot address by Julian Bond, chairman of the NAACP Board of Directors at 6 p.m. July 10.

  • A Job Fair with more than 100 companies exhibiting from noon-8 p.m. July 12 & 13.

  • Comedian Dick Gregory at 8 p.m. July 12.

  • Gospel  Show at 7 p.m., with entertainment by Shirley Caesar and Smokie Norful.
