JULY 2005

Past winners, rising newcomers set for U.S. Bank Championship

KENNY PERRY, Jeff Sluman and Carlos Franco, who have each earned more than $1 million in Milwaukee, return July 21-24 for  the 38th U.S. Bank Championship at Brown Deer Golf Course.

Formerly known as the Greater Milwaukee Open, the tournament is one of only a few PGA events to be played on a public course. Brown Deer, a Milwaukee County course, is north of Good Hope Road and west of Green Bay Rd., about 10 minutes from downtown Milwaukee.

Other leading golfers who have committed to the U.S. Bank Open include:

  • Billy Mayfair, currently 19th on thePGA  TOUR money list, who collected his first victory in Milwaukee in 1993.
  • Sean O’Hair, a tour rookie this year who finished second at the EDS Byron Nelson Classic.
  • Lucas Glover, who tied for eighth at the Memorial Tournament in June and tied for second at the 2004 U.S. Bank Championship, shooting a career-low round of 64 in the third  round.

Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre will compete Monday, July 18, in the pro-am event and in the charity shoot-out Tuesday, July 19.

Information about tickets to the 38th annual U.S. Bank Championship may be obtained by calling 414-540-3800 or by visiting www.usbankchampionship.com.

U.S. Bank is part of U.S. Bancorp, which has $193 billion in assets and is the sixth largest financial services holding company in the United States.  The non-profit event contributed more than $600,000 to Wisconsin charities last year and more than $4.5 million since 1994.
