feature article - july 2007 Riverwalk Boats adds Friday, Saturday dinner cruises MILWAUKEE’S RIVERWALK Boat Tours again this summer is expanding its popular downtown river cruise program, adding Friday and Saturday dinner cruises that offer an ideal way for visitors to enjoy the changing sights and sounds along the Milwaukee River. A major player in the redevelopment of the Milwaukee River, Riverwalk Boat Tours calls its new program Dine-O-Mite dinner cruises. The new program is in addition to the existing tour programs that include specialty themed cruises every weekday, brewery tour cruises and boat rentals. “This is not the typical stiff and proper dinner cruise Milwaukee has seen in the past,” said owner Russ Davis. “The Dine-O-Mite cruises are lively and spicy - the perfect way to take advantage of the summer weather.”
The dinner cruises run every Friday and Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. during the summer. Boats launch from Riverwalk’s dock in Pere Marquette Park on Old World 3rds St. between W. State St. and Kilbourn Ave. Included in the $55 dinner cruise is an old-fashioned Milwaukee spread – barbecued ribs and chicken, boiled shrimp, homemade coleslaw, baked potatoes and locally brewed beers, wine, rum punch, soft drinks and desserts. Specialty sunset cruises, which include drinks and appetizers, depart at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. They include Margarita Mondays, Tiki Tuesday (Polynesian and Caribbean theme), Wine Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Funky Fridays and Social Saturdays. Weekend brewery tours Saturdays and Sundays stop at the Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee Ale House and Rock Bottom Brewery. Customers must choose one brewery as their starting point and must pre-purchase tickets by calling 414-283-9999. From its landing in Pere Marquette Park, Riverwalk Boats also rents 10-passenger self-captained pontoon boats (10-passenger maximum), and offers private charters, parties or office functions on its two larger boats – The Brew City Queen II with a 42-passenger capacity and the Milwaukee Maiden which can handle 20.
