		feature article - july 2010 Gathering on the Green features exciting lineup GATHERING ON THE GREEN is an exciting annual celebration of the arts held north of Milwaukee in Mequon’s Rotary Park, 4000 W. Highland Rd. This year on July 8-10, the event features sultry jazz at dusk, rock music classics revisited, and a fun-filled performing arts finale. The park opens at 5 p.m. on Thursday, featuring a 6:30 p.m. concert by three-time Grammy nominee Tierney Sutton Band, opened by the Willie Pickens Trio. On Friday, festivities continue with the park opening at 5 p.m. and an 8 p.m. performance by a Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer with Daryl Stuermer-Genesis Rewired. Stuermer brings back the music of Phil Collins and Genesis with a new lead vocalist, thrilling crowds with some of the biggest hits of the late 70s, 80s, and 90s. Saturday events have an “It’s So Easy Being Green” theme. The Best of the Performing Arts brings together the Milwaukee Ballet, Florentine Opera Company, Gathering on the Green Orchestra and Trinity Irish Dancers. Children’s activities kick off the evening, with the park opening at 4 p.m. and performances at 7:30 p.m. Choreographed fireworks bring the festival to a close. To get to Rotary Park from Milwaukee, go north on I-43, and take exit 85 for WI-57 S/WI-167 W. Turn left at Mequon Rd. Take the first right onto N. Port Washington Rd. Turn left at Highland Rd. Turn right into Rotary Park.
