Matt Kenseth returns to Milwaukee Mile
Kenseth, the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup champion who finished second in the standings last year, is a native of Cambridge, near Madison. He will compete in the Wisconsin All-Star 50 late model event Aug. 26 against some of finest short-track, late model drivers in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Kenseth will be driving a super late model stock car, similar to what he raced before he stepped up to the NASCAR Busch Series in 1997. The All-Star 50 will be the first time since 2001 that Wisconsin’s biggest NASCAR star has raced on The Milwaukee Mile, the world’s oldest active speedway. Other weekend events during the Governor’s Cup weekend include a Mid-American Stock Cars Series event at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and the150-lap ASA Late Model Challenge Series race at 3:30 p.m. The Governor’s Cup 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race is set for noon Aug. 26, followed by the Wisconsin All-Star 50 at 3 p.m. Tickets and additional details of the Governor’s Cup weekend are available at the Milwaukee Mile ticket office, 7722 W. Greenfield Ave. Tickets also can be ordered by telephone at 414-453-8277 or by visiting www.milwaukeemile.com.
ATTENDANCE at Miller Park is soaring as the Brewers continue to play like a playoff, and perhaps, a World Series contender for the first time in 25 years. August home series include key games against a possible playoff opponent, the New York Mets, and three teams which are trailing Milwaukee in the Central Division of the National League. Included in that trio is the St. Louis Cardinals, 2006 World Series champion.
