Harvest Fair has something for everyone Sept. 22-24 HARVEST FAIR, presented by Assurant Health, has developed into a true family event at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 8100 W. Greenfield Ave. This year the fair from Sept. 22-24 again will be accompanied by the World Beef Expo, featuring the best of many breeds of beef cattle. Among the many activities planned for Harvest Fair are: • The Family Variety Stage, with entertaining shows ranging from juggling with fire to animal folklore. The stage will be located in front of the Wisconsin Expo Center. • The Budweiser Amphitheater, which will host a full lineup of local entertainment all three days. • A farmers’ market with fresh produce, decorations and flower arrangements. • The Harvest Bazaar, featuring hand-woven baskets, home decorations, novelty items, jewelry and other gift selections. • The ever-popular Harvest Fair Bier Garten, featuring more than 30 micro-brews along with six televisions to watch sporting events. The Bier Garten will be next door to the Budweiser Amphitheater. • Hay rides throughout State Fair Park. Tractor-drawn rides will leave every half hour from 4-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon-7 p.m. Sunday. • A midway, featuring many traditional favorites, and a free petting zoo. Harvest Fair hours are 4-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. Admission to the fair is free, but there is a $5 charge for parking. The World Beef Expo, a premier show for the world’s beef industry, actually begins Sept. 21, with judging of entries starting Sept. 22. Visitors from Europe. Asia. Africa, as well as North and South America, are expected to attend the four-day event featuring nearly 20 breeds of cattle.
