Cedarburg celebrates fall

ALL OF THE SENSES will be treated at Historic Cedarburg’s Wine & Harvest Festival, held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Award-winning wines from Cedar Creek Winery, prepared items in food courts throughout the town, seasonal fruits and vegetables at the Farmers Market and Wisconsin agricultural products at the Marketplace tempt hungry visitors.

Wines will be available by the glass at Cedar Creek Winery’s booth, while the crowd-pleasing Great Grape Stomp includes the Kids Stomp at 1 and 3 p.m. and the Adults Stomp at 2 and 4 p.m. at Cedar Creek Settlement.

The Great Pumpkin Charity Regatta on Cedar Creek features gigantic, hollowed-out, floatable pumpkins piloted by paddlers. Visit the Cedarburg Cultural Center for the Cedarburg Artists Guild’s annual juried Fall Show and the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts for special events and activities. Kids can try hands-on activities at the Kohl’s Color Wheels Activities Van at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, presented by the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Entries in the Scarecrow Contest can be viewed throughout Cedarburg’s Historic District. With Washington Avenue closed, the best way to view them is on a shuttle hayride.

Live music, played in several locations, will include Top Forty, bluegrass, folk and rock ‘n roll. For shoppers, Arts on the Avenue will feature more than 200 juried booths. Of course, Cedarburg’s many shops and galleries always provide unique shopping opportunities.

Historic Cedarburg is located just north of Milwaukee, exit at Hwy C, Pioneer Road. For more information about the festival, visit www.cedarburgfestivals.org or phone 888-894-4001, 262-377-9620.
