NBA Bucks host two preseason games

THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS warm up for the National Basketball Association season this month with two home exhibition games. Coached by Terry Porter, the Bucks made the NBA playoffs last season and strengthened the lineup with off-season trades.

Preseason home games are Oct. 16 against the Denver Nuggets and Oct. 23 against the Dallas Mavericks. Both games are at 7:30 p.m. at the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St.

The Bucks open the home regular season at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. For ticket information, visit www.Bucks.com or stop by the Bradley Center Ticket Office.

PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY
THE MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS, champions of the American Hockey League last season, open the 2004-2005 season Oct. 15 against the Chicago Wolves.
All Admirals games are played in the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St. For tickets, visit the Bradley Center Box office or the Admirals Office in the Bradley Center.

Oct. 15 vs. Chicago Wolves, 7 p.m.
Oct. 30 vs. Utah Grizzlies, 8:05 p.m.
Nov. 1 vs. San Antonio Rampage, 7 p.m.
Nov. 5 vs. Chicago Wolves, 7 p.m.

PROFESSIONAL SOCCER
THE MILWAUKEE WAVE of the Major Indoor Soccer League open the season Oct. 29 against the Chicago Storm. The Wave, which lost in the league’s championship series last season, plays all home matches at the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave.
The home opener is set to start at 7:05 p.m., with post-game activities including a performance by The Love Monkeys, a popular Milwaukee group. Individual game tickets are available by calling the Wave at 414-224-9285.

Other early-season matches include:
Nov. 6 vs. the Kansas City Comets, 6:05 p.m.
Nov. 13 vs. the Cleveland Force, 7:05 p.m.
Nov. 19 vs. the Monterrey Fury, 7:05 p.m.

COLLEGE SOCCER
The men’s soccer squads from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University face off this month at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Engelmann Field on the UWM campus. Both teams, along with women’s teams from both schools, are nearing the season-ending conference tournaments in November.

Oct. 13 vs. UW-Green Bay, 3 p.m.
Oct. 17 vs. UWM Alumni (exhibition), noon
Oct. 22 vs. Northern Illinois, 3 p.m.
Oct. 26 vs. Marquette, 3 p.m.

Oct. 31 vs. Cleveland State, noon.

COLLEGE TENNIS
Marquette University’s men’s tennis team will host the Marquette Invitational Tournament Oct. 16-17 in the university’s Helfaer Tennis Center on campus, preparing for action in the 29th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Nov. 3-7. The Milwaukee Tennis Classic, also held in the Helfaer Center, traditionally attracts leading men and women from top college programs throughout the U.S.
