Bucks’ new coach, #1 draft pick warm up for NBA season

THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS open the National Basketball Association exhibition season this month with a new coach and the number one selection in the NBA draft.

Terry Stotts, who formerly served as an assistant coach in Milwaukee, will direct a decidedly different team, led by guard T. J. Ford, returning from a serious  injury; All-Star Michael Red; Desmond Mason and Andrew Bogut, the seven-foot center who was the first selection in the NBA draft.

Two exhibition games are scheduled this month in the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St. – Sept. 15 against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sept. 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Both games are at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, visit the Bucks Box Office in the Bradley Center  or call 227-0500.

PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY

THE MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS of the American Hockey League open the season this month on the road, before returning to home ice in the Bradley Center , 1001 N. Fourth St. The home opener will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 against the Manitoba Moose. Also this month, the Admirals face the Houston Aeros on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. and the Omaha Knights at 7 p.m. Oct. 29. Purchase Admirals tickets at the Bradley Center  Box Office or by phone at 276-4545.

COLLEGE SOCCER

Both the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM)  and  Marquette University field strong men’s and women’s soccer  teams. UWM teams play at Engelmann Field on the UWM campus, while Marquette plays its home game at the Valley Fields just south of the campus on the south side of I-94. General admission tickets to UWM games are available at Engleman Field the day of the game. For Marquette ticket information call 228-4668.
