Relax at The Grove AT THE GROVE, a warm and friendly atmosphere combines with great food for a relaxed dining experience. Visitors to Milwaukee may discover a new “home away from home” at this west-side restaurant. A favorite for lunch and dinner, this popular spot in Elm Grove also is known for its live entertainment. Jazz groups appear in the restaurant’s spacious lounge area Wednesday through Saturday evenings. Beamed ceilings, butter-yellow walls and colorful framed prints add to the bistro atmosphere. The décor’s European touches are echoed by a few Mediterranean specialties on the menu. For owners Chris and Brenda Skibinski, their mission is to constantly enhance the quality of the food served at The Grove. “It’s all about searching out and connecting with the top purveyors,” says Chris. For example, the Skibinskis tap five different vendors for fish that may come from Hawaii or the East Coast. Beef served at The Grove meets the standards of the Certified Angus Program.
Lunch offers a range of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps and soups. “Great Couples” thoughtfully pairs sandwiches and soups, salad and pastas or sandwiches and salads. Favorite dinner entrees such as Spanakopita and ribs are offered at noon as well. The Grove is known for its tender steaks and outstanding fish and seafood. Some entrees are vegetarian-friendly and there’s a children’s menu, ensuring a harmonious dining experience for all. Dinner starters include tender calamari, apricot baked brie, walleye cheeks and stuffed Portobello mushrooms. Parmesan Baked Walleye and Cioppino are among the seafood offerings, while Catch of the day may include Pacific Coast sand dabs or broiled swordfish. For meat lovers, the menu offers a 12-ounce New York strip steak, lamb loin, pork back ribs, and beef tenderloin. Tour the Mediterranean with lemon caper chicken, New York Strip “La Pizziaola,” Veal Piccata and Pesto pasta with chicken. Side dishes excel here, although it’s difficult to choose between red spuds (deep fried garlic red potatoes), horseradish mashed, baked, or Chef’s potato du jour. Lunch is served 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday; Dinner 4-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4-10 p.m. Friday through Saturday, and 3-8 p.m. Sunday. There is continuous bar service until close, and a special Tapas Time is featured at the bar 4-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday brunch is served 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Grove is located at 890 Elm Grove Rd. in the heart of Elm Grove. Phone (262) 814-1890 for info and directions. Current
