NOVEMBER 2005 Bucks open season with new coach, #1 draft pick
Terry Stotts, who formerly served as an assistant coach in Milwaukee, will direct a decidedly different team, led by guard T. J. Ford, returning from a serious injury, Michael Redd, Desmond Mason and Andrew Bogut, the seven-foot center who was the first selection in the NBA draft. The first major on the 2005-’06 Professional Bowlers Association schedule, the Masters is expected to attract more than 550 of the world’s top professional and amateur bowlers, competing for prize money of more than $400,000. Qualifying and match play rounds will be held at the AMF Bowlero Lanes, 11737 W. Burleigh Ave. The finals are set for the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave. Nov. 20. In what will be a preview of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, members of the U.S. National Speedskating Team will compete against skaters from around the world. COLLEGE BASKETBALLMARQUETTE University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) open men’s and women’s basketball seasons this month. UWM’s men’s team, which advanced to the “Sweet 16” round of the NCAA championship last season, plays its home games at the U.S. Cellular Arena,500 W. Kilbourn Ave., while the women’s team competes in the Klotsche Center on the UWM campus. Marquette, entering the Big East Conference this year, plays its men’s games in the Bradley Center, 1001 N. 4th St., while the women’s squad plays in the Al McGuire Center on the downtown campus.
