bucksNew-look Bucks open NBA season

THE MILWAUKEE BUCKS’ home opener Nov. 1 will give fans a look at a new lineup and how new general manager John Hammond and coach Scott Skiles intend to transform the team into an NBA championship contender.

Hammond, long-time vice president of the Detroit Pistons, changed the face of the Bucks through off-season trades and signings that added high-scoring forward Richard Jefferson and guard Luke Ridnour. The newcomers join Bucks veterans Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut.

In November, the new lineup will be tested by five playoff teams from last season. All Bucks home games are at the Bradley Center, 1001 N. Fourth St. For tickets and additional information, visit www.bucks.com.

Fresh Coast Basketball Classic

The second annual Fresh Coast Basketball Classic here Nov. 28 & 29 will feature the basket ball teams from four of the nation's traditionally black colleges.

First staged last last November at the Midwest Airlines Center, the classic moves this year to the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave. Competing this year are teams from Central State University, Wilborforce, Ohio; Elizabeth City College, Elizabeth City, N.C.; Talladega College, Talladega, Ala., and Morehouse College, Atlanta, Ga.

Talladega will face Morehouse at 1 p.m. Nov. 28, and Elizabeth City will face Central State at 4 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament's consolation game is set for 1 p.m. and the championship for 4 p.m.

Collegiate Basketball

BOTH MEN'S and women's basketball teams at the Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) have national reputations, providing fans many opportunities to see quality contests.

Marquette men play at the Bradley Center, while the Golden Eagle women play at the Al McGuire Center on campus. UWM men play home games at the U.S. Cellular Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave., while the women play at the Klotche Center on campus.

Nov. 14 vs. Houston Baptist, 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 17 vs. Cleveland State, 7 p.m.
