		feature article - november 2008 Discover the historic ambiance of Milwaukee’s premier dining, entertainment and shopping destination. the Historic Third Ward THE 20TH ANNUAL Christmas in the Ward will be held 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.While the fun is centered at Catalano Square (N. Broadway and E. Menomonee St.), the holiday spirit will enliven all of the Historic ThirdWard. Friday's opening event includes a Holiday Concert and Tree Lighting Ceremony that begins at 5 p.m., with the actual tree-lighting at 5:30 p.m. Kids can visit Santa in Jolly's Outdoor Gingerbread House 5:45-8:30 p.m. In keeping with Christmas in theWard tradition, a silent auction and cookie sale will be held. The 2008 location is the Milwaukee Public Market at 400 N.Water St. Shoppers can take advantage of discounts and special offers at many of theWard’s shops and boutiques. Creative holiday fun will be found throughout theWard. For example, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Exclusiva, a Holiday Open House includes freebies like chair massages and other goodies. Both days at Metropawlis, refreshments and a complimentary pet photo ornament keepsake will be offered to visitors. On Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., the silent auction and cookie sale continues at the Milwaukee Public Market. From 12-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., kids can visit Santa in the Outdoor Gingerbread House. Milwaukee Children’s Choir will perform holiday carols from 2:30 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. at the Milwaukee Public Market. At 4 p.m., the silent auction winners will be announced. Proceeds from the silent auction, cookie sale and photos with Santa benefit Toys for Tots. Christmas in theWard is a free event. Parking is free in the ThirdWard structures at 212 N. Milwaukee St. and 225 E. Chicago St. from 4-10 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday. The following weekend, kids can visit Santa in Jolly's Gingerbread House from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13.
