Great courses offer unbelievable early-season rates

IF YOU’RE IN Milwaukee or southeastern Wisconsin in April or May, there’s no better time to sample some of the area’s best and most challenging golf courses. That’s because the specials are unbelievable for tracts of this caliber.

Even on a mediocre or bad weather day, these courses and rates are too good to pass up.

Bristlecone Pines (40 minutes west of downtown Milwaukee, off Hwy. 16) – 262-367-7880. April: $59 entire week, range included, but cart additional; May 1 through May 17: $69 Mon.-Thurs., includes cart & range; $79 Fri.-Sun., includes cart & range.

The Bull at Pinehurst Farms (60 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee, 3 miles west of I-43) 920-467-1500. April: $55 Mon.-Sun, includes cart with GPS & range. May: $85 Mon.-Sun., includes cart with GPS & range; $50 Mon-Sun. after 2 p.m., includes cart with GPS & range.

Fire Ridge (25 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee, on the west side of I-43, visible from the freeway) – 262-375-2252. April through May 15: $45 the entire week, includes cart; range extra.

Geneva National (4 miles west of Lake Geneva on Hwy. 50) – 262-245-7000. Through May 1 (on any of the three courses: Palmer, Trevino, or Player): $55 Mon.-Thurs., includes cart; $60 Fri.-Sun. Through May 29 (on any of the three courses): $75 Mon.-Thurs., includes cart $90 Fri.-Sun., includes cart.

Morningstar (40 minutes southwest of downtown Milwaukee, on the north side of I-43) – 262-662-1600. April: $49 Mon.-Thurs., includes cart & range; $59 Fri.-Sun., includes cart & range; $34 Mon.-Fri. before 10 a.m., includes cart & range. May: $59 Mon.-Thurs., includes cart & range; $69 Fri.-Sun., includes cart & range; $39 Mon.-Fri. before 10 a.m. and after 2 p.m., includes cart & range.

Nagawaukee (35 minutes west of Milwaukee off of I-94) – 262-367-2153. April: $27.75 entire week, walking.

Washington County (55 minutes northwest of downtown Milwaukee, in Hartford) – 888-383-4653 April through May 10: $37 Mon.-Fri., before 11:30 a.m., includes cart (residents & non-residents); $32 Mon.-Fri. before 11:30 a.m., seniors (62 yrs. or older), includes cart (residents & non-residents); $36 Sat. & Sun., walking (residents); $41 Sat. & Sun., walking (non-residents).

CHIP SHOTS:
